Hi!
I took the plunge and bought Love Tanya by Tanya Burr. I was in two minds about purchasing it but I'm glad I did.
To be honest, I'm not a big fan of Tanya and some of the reviews weren't that good but the book was actually really good.
At first I thought Love Tanya was like Fleur DeForce's The Glam Guide but although they cover the same topics, Tanya's is more personal whilst Fleur's is more about the tips.
I know this book came out in January but I only got it a couple of weeks ago but it's never too late to put my point across!!!
There are 12 sections in the book which are:
- Growing Up: Part One
- Growing Up: Part Two
- Skincare Essentials
- Make-up Essentials
- Hair and Nail Essentials
- Fashion
- Love
- Life
- Baking and Recipes
- Confidence and Happiness
- YouTube
- Looking Forward
And in each of the chapters, there are Tanya's top tens and lists where you can fill what you want e.g. List the top ten songs that be the soundtrack to your life growing up
My Thoughts On Each Chapter
Growing Up: Part One
This chapter is all about Tanya's childhood and it was nice to read her about her childhood. There's quite a lot of childhood pictures which is a really nice touch. I love reading autobiographies so I really liked this chapter
Growing Up: Part Two
This chapter is all about Tanya's teenage years, her first jobs, how she met her fiancé Jim Chapman and how she discovered YouTube. Again, I really liked this chapter and I love finding out how couples meet; I'm so nosy!!!
Skincare Essentials
I'm not into skincare so I assumed that I wasn't going to like this post. However, I was wrong. Obviously, most of it were on skincare products but there was also ways to improve your skin without products like drink more water, get enough sleep etc. so I did enjoy that way and I have been trying to apply some of them into my life.
Makeup Essentials
This was a really good chapter. It wasn't as detailed as I expected as I thought there was going to be more as Tanya did start off as a beauty guru on YouTube. Having said that, I did like the big section on how to apply your makeup as I've learnt a lot from that chapter. This chapter was a lot more personal as all of the pictures were from Tanya's Instagram, which I thought was a cute touch.
Hair and Nail Essentials
This chapter was mainly about hair and I would've liked more on nails as recently I have been getting into nails and nail art. The hair section was good though and there was some great tips which I have applied like use 2 shampoos instead of 1, only shampoo at the scalp and loads more. The nail section was 4 pages with 2 on a DIY manicure and the other 2 on Tanya's nail tips.
Fashion
This was one of my favourite chapters. It featured dressing for your body type, where to shop, how to accessorize, a mini what's in my bag and how to organise your wardrobe. Most of the pictures were shots taken at press launches or premiers, Instagram posts and a couple of childhood pictures. I think having the childhood snaps were a cute touch
and it shows how Tanya was into fashion as a child.
Love
This was hands down my favourite chapter! It was all about her and Jim, who also makes YouTube videos, and it was really cute. I found out so much about them in this chapter like their first date, their backpacking trip to Thailand and Australia, how he proposed and the wedding plans. I love weddings even though I've never been to one, so it was really nice reading about their plans. There was also date ideas and relationship tips, which sadly don't apply to me YET!
Life
This was another sweet chapter that I enjoyed. This chapter includes friendships like how she became friends with Zoella (she covered her childhood friends in the Growing Up sections), travelling and food and exercise to name a few. I enjoyed the mixture of this chapter as you never knew what was going to come next. Again there is the list feature so you can make lists like your favourite places in the world, your best friends and what they mean to you to name a few.
Baking and Recipes
I like baking but I don't like Food Tech as it's always stressful so I did enjoy this chapter. There is quite a lot of recipes in this chapter like Amazing Chocolate Brownies, Triple Chocolate Cookies and Sunday Cake to name my favourites. The title is kinda lying as there is savoury meals in this chapter including Roasted Squash, Lentil And Goat Cheese Salad and a Healthy Winter Soup. The pictures are amazing in this chapter and I know if I made any of these, mine would look like shit.
Confidence and Happiness
This chapter is all about Tanya's anxiety, ways to feel more confident and ways of dealing with stress and anxiety. I get really stressed (especially before tests) so this was a great chapter that I can refer back to in the future. At the end of this chapter there is a few inspirational quotes like: 'You have to be odd to be number one', 'dream BIG' and 'Life is better when you're laughing', which I thought was a cute touch to this chapter.
YouTube
This was the chapter I was most excited for in the book as in the future, I would like to make a YouTube channel. Tanya talks about how she started making YouTube videos in Growing Up: Part 2 so this chapter is all about how Tanya's YouTube journey, Dos and Don'ts and her top 10 tips for vloggers and bloggers. My only problem is that the tips are quite short and brief and as a blogger, I always want to learn and most of the tips were pretty vague.
Looking Forwards
This chapter was a really small one and it's about what Tanya wants to do in the future. She talks about how she wants to expand Tanya Burr Cosmetics, her wedding and having children. This was another good chapter as I like hearing about other people's life plans and if they actually stick to it!!! There is also a paragraph about career advice as Tanya's fan base would be choosing their GCSE options and thinking about what they want to do in the future.
Pictures
I would rate this book a 4/5
Thanks for reading and I'll see you on Wednesday with another Wonderful Wednesday

Pictures
The pictures in this book are incredible. Something that really stands out to me as a fashion enthusiast is that at the beginning of the book there is a list of where everything is from. A lot of the pictures weren't professional photos; in fact they're Instagram/blog pictures or childhood snaps.
The Final Verdict
All in all, I really enjoyed this book and I recommend it to anyone who likes fashion, beauty and lifestyle books. The only thing that I wasn't too keen on was the list feature where after every chapter, there was a couple of lists that you could fill out yourself but that's not a big problem.I would rate this book a 4/5
